It provides a clear introduction to the responsibilities of subject leadership and will allow time to reflect on your own context. \nYou will explore the distinctive role of RE in church schools\, including SIAMS expectations\, explore locally agreed syllabi as well as the current pedagogical best practice and look at resources that can support teaching and learning across your school. \nThere will be opportunities to review your current provision\, consider assessment\, and begin developing an action plan\, leaving you feeling more confident and equipped to lead RE in your setting.  \n\n\n\nSeptember 25th from 9am-4pm at Flourish House\, Wells. \n\n\n\nCost is £25 per person. \n\n\n\nBooking available here

DESCRIPTION:‘Confirmation’ is a new resource funded by the Archbishops Council’s Partnership\, and delivered by Youthscape.  A full free set of resources is now available to download by visiting the Youthscape website.   \n\n\n\nThe brand-new course supports and prepares young people journeying towards confirmation and provides leaders with a well-rounded suite of flexible resources from which to build a bespoke course that’s right for their group and setting. \n\n\n\nGrounded in evidence and research\, the course has been through a rigorous development process and has been created in consultation with bishop’s\, clergy (including Launchpad participants) and of course young people themselves. \n\n\n\nIn addition to the information on the website\, you can also find out more by attending a webinar during which the team will introduce the course and take questions. The webinar is for anyone (laity\, staff\, or clergy) interested in finding out more about the course and how it might be used in their setting. SUMMARY:Franciscan Peace Pilgrimage arrives in Somserset. 4-10 Sept
DESCRIPTION:‘On New Roads – Franciscan Peace Pilgrimage’ \n\n\n\n2026 is the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi\, and special events are taking place across the world focusing on peace building. \n\n\n\nA national pilgrimage walk starts from Alnmouth Friary in Northumberland on 17 July arriving in East London on 2 October. The route passes through Somerset on its way to Hilfield Friary in Dorset. On Friday 4 September pilgrims will be at Compton Martin and arrive in Wells on Saturday 5 September to be greeted at Evensong at 5:15pm. \n\n\n\nOn Sunday 6 September the Cathedral Eucharist at 10:30am will have a special theme of Peace\, with Bishop Christopher Chessun (Bishop of Southwark) preaching. \n\n\n\nOn Monday 7 September the pilgrims walk to Street\, on 8 September to Queen Camel and on 9 September to Sherborne arriving at Hilfield Friary on 10 September. \n\n\n\nThe pilgrimage ends in Plaistow\, East London on 2 October in time for the feast day of St Francis on 4 October.. \n\n\n\nFull details are at www.spiritoffrancis.com

DESCRIPTION:Conflict is a normal everyday occurrence in all our lives – in our homes\, our workplaces and in our communities. The Ammerdown Centre recognises that many of us struggle with how to deal with differences and conflict well – in a way that prevents it escalating and can instead strengthen our relationships and communities. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to better understand conflict and gain some simple tools to address it in your life\, community\, or workplace – then please join us on Tuesday 2 September at the Ammerdown Centre (9.30am – 2pm) including morning tea and lunch. \n\n\n\nAll of us can feel the stress of an upcoming conversation that we think will be difficult. Join us in learning some simple tools and tips for preparing and handling yourself for such conversations. This interactive workshop will give participants an opportunity to not only learn about such tips and tools\, but also an opportunity to practise and gain confidence in using them. DESCRIPTION:NB Except for the Start time\, all timings are approximate\, especially later in the day. \n\n\n\nPlease also note that Doniford Road in Watchet is closed to all traffic because of works to the gas network.  \n\n\n\nBefore Noon : Meet either in St Decuman’s Church\, or at the Holy Well.   \n\n\n\nParking : Watchet Cemetery Car Park\, Five Bells\, Watchet. You may like to arrive in time to follow the church’s Pilgrim Prayer Trail.  \n\n\n\n\n	11.55 am : Those in the church will be led down to the well. \n	12 noon : Setting out prayer and pilgrimage blessing at St Decuman’s Holy Well.  \n	12.30 pm : Join the coast path by East Quay\, Watchet; walk east towards E. Quantoxhead. \n	Parking : There are pay and display car parks on Harbour Rd\, Anchor St and Market St. \n	3.00 pm : Leave the coast path and head inland to E Quantoxhead Church \n	Parking : There is parking by E Quantoxhead pond (Donations\, please) \n	3.15 pm : Refreshments in E Quantoxhead Church. \n	3.30 pm : Walk to Kilve Church for short service (4.00 pm) \n	Parking : Please use the Pay & Display car park at Kilve Beach; walk back to the church \n	4.15 pm : Walk down Sea Lane to rejoin the coast path; walk east towards Lilstock. \n	5.15 pm : Arrive at Lilstock Beach  \n\n\n\n\nParking : Please use the Lilstock Beach Car Park (Free). Road closures may mean access is from Burton. Follow coast path east towards Hinkley Point\, turning inland at end of first field on to the Castles & Coast Way towards Stogursey. \n\n\n\nNB : there are several notices about variations of rights of way. The route in the leaflet allows for these\, so don’t panic ! At waymark 8\, turn right onto Tower Hill and then left where the road widens on to St Andrew’s Road. Follow signs to St Andrew’s Well.  \n\n\n\n\n	6.30 pm : Arrive at St Andrew’s Well for Well Dressing \n\n\n\n\nParking : Please park on the main street or in Paddons Farm.  \n\n\n\nNOTES  \nAll pilgrims are responsible for their own well-being; take sun hats/sou’westers\, water\, sun cream\, personal first aid kit\, etc. Some parts of the route are through long grass – take precautions against tics\, e.g. wear long trousers.  \nParts of the route are on productive farmland : please observe the Country Code :
