What is the 24 Hour Wave of Prayer?

Loving God, You alone bring growth to your Church and transformation to our communities. Send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions, and grace in living and telling your story. Help our churches to grow in commitment to you, in numbers and diversity, and in partnership with our local communities in all that gives life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

More about the 24 hours

We will be sharing in a 24-hour Wave of Prayer across the diocese from 7pm on Friday, 6 September.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, is joining us for a number of prayer events across Bath and Wells, over 24 hours, starting with a worship evening for young people in Bath on Friday, 6 September and then continuing in varied locations in each of the three archdeaconries on Saturday 7 September. Alongside these larger gatherings, we hope that churches will hold their own local gatherings so that together, across our diocese, we can pray for the growth of our churches and the transformation of our communities.

“Ours is a vision grounded in prayer and it will be wonderful to come together on this day, encouraged by our archbishop, to pray for God’s continued love and guidance as we journey alongside one another. Together we will help more people in our communities to come to know God's immense love for them, and in so doing play our part in transforming communities.”
