Mission begins with God and requires prayer, listening and discernment. Before we make plans or start new activities, we are invited to pray, listen and discern where God is already at work.
God is already present in our churches and communities. Our calling is to notice, to listen prayerfully, and to join in.
This framework has been shaped to help you hold together both faithfulness and flexibility: faithfulness to God’s call and flexibility as local circumstances change. It draws on a range of mission models, the lived experience of people serving across Bath and Wells, and the wisdom of those offering parish, deanery and diocesan support to help you.
It has been designed to support growth in churches that enables mission to thrive and provide increased financial sustainability. Resources and details of the support available to help you engage with the Missional Framework will be available in this section soon.
“If I want to grow a vine I can use a trellis, a framework. If I have no framework then the vine is a heap of tangled mess on the floor and will not be fruitful. If I put up a trellis I can paint it, add jewels to it make it look lovely but if there is no vine growing up it then it is dead.
