People news: October 2026

We give thanks for the ministry of all people across our diocese of Bath and Wells. As we share their news, we hold them in our prayers and ask for God’s guidance and blessing in all that lies ahead.

Appointments and new roles

• Emma Amyes is to be licenced on 1 November 2026 as Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Priest), Clevedon Christchurch Benefice.
• Caroline Mason is taking on the additional role of Lay Dean, Portishead. Appointment date 17 November 2026.
• Richard Greatrex will be taking on the additional role of Prest in Charge of Publow with Pensford, Compton Dando and Chelwood.
• Louise Bale will be licensed as Assistant Curate (to be known as Local Minister) of Wrington with Butcombe and Burrington.
• Nigel Williams is to be the new Area Dean of Chew Magna. Nigel is currently Assistant Area Dean. A successor to the Assistant Area Dean position has not yet been identified.
• Sarah Sanderson has been commissioned as Assistant Area Dean of Yeovil.
• Dan Crouch has been commissioned as Area Dean for Yeovil.
• Joanna Moule has been licensed as Associate Priest at Long Ashton with Barrow Gurney & Flax Bourton.
• James Sharp has been commissioned as Area Dean for the Shepton Mallet Deanery.
• Anne Futcher has taken on the role of Deanery Retirement and Clergy Widow(er)s Officer for the Exmoor Deanery.
• Sarah Cornick has been licensed as the Vicar of St Cuthberts Wells and Wookey Hole.
• Innocent Ogbidikhe has been licensed as Assistant Curate, Midsomer Norton with Clandown and East Mendip Trinity.

Licence extensions

• Bruce Faulkner has a 2 year extension to his license as Area Dean of Ivelchester.
• Nigel Rawlinson’s license was extended for 3 years as the Rector of Freshford with Limpley Stoke and Hinton Charterhouse.

Retirement

• Paul Fillery will step down as Vicar of the benefice of Martock with Kingsbury Episcopi and Ash. His last working day is 30 November.
