Solar panels on the road to Ukraine

Hundreds of solar panels are en-route from Bristol to a church in Svalyava, Ukraine.

Hundreds of solar panels are en-route from Bristol to Ukraine as renewable energy specialists SolarSense collected working panels from a client renewing their existing array and sent them to the city of Svalyava in Western Ukraine.

SolarSense is working with Revd Alan Bain, a member of St Andrew’s church Fox Hill in Bath and a retired C of E minister who has been working with Ukraine churches for over 20 years. The panels are being transported in partnership with Ukraine Focus, which channels support from across the world to the country,

Revd Bain has been collaborating with SolarSense since the late 1990s also setting up solar projects in deprived areas of Uganda and India. On arrival this week, the panels will be delivered to a church in Ukraine providing accommodation and meals for people displaced by war in the east of the country.

Alan Bain said, “It’s great to work with such excellent partners and to see the fruit of so many years work with good friends in Ukraine whilst helping with the appalling war the country is embroiled in.”

Stephen Barrett, founder of SolarSense said, “We couldn’t be prouder to work with this amazing group of people as they respond to the devastating impact of war,”
