Timsbury Angel Trail brings cheer and hope

After the success of their Scarecrow Trail in the summer, St Mary’s Church in  Timsbury, decided to offer an Angel Trail during Advent to bring some community spirit and point towards the significance of the angels in the Christmas story. Over the weekend of 12th and 13th of December a dazzling array of 51 angels appeared around the village in gardens, on drives and on a roof. The creativity was staggering and despite the poor weather, 100 angel trail maps were sold, raising £275 for church funds. Around 400 adults and children officially took part using the maps, but there were lots of others who stopped to take pictures or who were in their cars.

This has been a difficult year for many, but this simple and creative trail event managed to bring some welcome cheer and hopefully pointed towards the message brought by the angels of the coming Christ child.

A group of four young adults from outside of the village met up, socially distanced, to join the trail and said how it was a lovely way to open the Christmas story and to see so many adults and children walking around the village smiling. They were also grateful for the enthusiastic and helpful way that people directed them to the angels.

 ‘a bit of brightness in a dark time and a way to practically share the Christmas story’,

‘it was lovely that the vicar and the church did something so positive for the village after such a tough year’.
