A day of fun and connection for clergy families

In June, nine clergy families from across the diocese gathered for a day of friendship, fun and time together. Although rain accompanied much of the day, it didn’t stop families enjoying the chance to meet, relax and share in activities together. 

The morning got off to a fun start as children and adults threw themselves into tobogganing on the dry ski slope, racing down the run and cheering each other on. Families could then try their hand at axe throwing or join in with gel and Nerf gun battles, offering bringing plenty of smiles along the way. 

Speaking after the day one member of clergy who had joined with their family commented, “Family Max is a highlight for our children and they always look forward to coming. Tobogganing and hurtling down the dry slope is huge fun that we share together and it is that togetherness as a family that is so valuable, and where else would you find families together throwing axes at a target! (safely and under direction, of course!)” 

After the activities, everyone came together to share lunch, which offered families time and space to chat and enjoy one another’s company. The children also enjoyed making badges, creating keepsakes to remember the day, as one of the children commented, “We loved it! We really enjoyed the activities and made friends with other children.” – Child participants 

The event was made possible through funding from the Clergy Support Trust. Its support helped provide a welcome opportunity for clergy families to spend time together, build connections and enjoy a day away from their usual routines.
