The Diocesan Registry provides legal advice on a variety of matters relating to parish officers (such as clergy, churchwardens, PCCs, lay chairs), diocesan officers and bodies.
From this autumn the Diocesan Registry for Bath and Wells will share a quarterly newsletter with information about helpful legal updates.
Amongst the information included in this edition is guidance from the Church Buildings Council for churches who are uncertain whether their church, church hall or other parochial building may contain Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).
There is also information about the Church Representation Amendment Rule and details of amendments to the Treasure Act 1996 which relates to the unearthing of valuable objects, it outlines the new government definition of what treasure is and the rules surrounding the discovery of it.
