Regular giving helps churches to make plans based on what they know they are going to receive and when.

Parish Giving Scheme (PGS)

Individuals retain complete control of their giving and have the confidence of transactions being protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme. Additionally, they are offered the option to easily increase their gift annually, which helps protect their church giving from the effects of inflation.

The church benefits from stable and often increasing levels of giving and improved cash flow, as Gift Aid is collected on their behalf every month.

Treasurers benefit from reduced levels of administration and paperwork as more and more regular giving and Gift Aid claims are handled by PGS.

If you are interested in joining PGS, please email: pgsregistrations@bathwells.anglican.org  and we will send you the church registration documents to complete.

Individuals can set up a regular or one-off gift to their church once their church’s PGS account is live. Search on the PGS website to see if your church is registered and follow the prompts. There are three ways for individuals to set up their giving via PGS: online, by telephone, or using a paper form. Paper gift forms can be provided for your church by contacting the Giving team.

Once a church has registered and their PGS account is live, it is time to introduce the scheme to your congregation and community. Please see our helpful guide on how to launch PGS. There is also a range of advice and help on the PGS website.

Standing orders

Another method to support your parish’s mission and operations by providing vital resources to maintain church activities and outreach programs is through standing orders and envelopes.

Standing orders allow parishioners to make regular donations directly from their bank accounts. Setting up a standing order is straightforward: you simply instruct your bank to transfer a specified amount at regular intervals. It is important that Treasurers are kept informed about any new regular gifts being set-up using this method.

Cash and envelopes

Another method to support your parish’s mission and operations by providing vital resources to maintain church activities and outreach programs is through envelopes.

The envelope scheme provides a more traditional method of regular giving. Parishioners receive a set of dated envelopes, which they fill with their donations and place in the collection plate during services. This method allows individuals to plan their giving on a weekly or monthly basis and is especially useful for those who prefer to give in cash or cheque. The envelope system also helps the church in tracking and recording donations, making it easier to manage finances and claim Gift Aid where applicable.

Details of suppliers of envelopes are contained in our Gift Aid Guide which you can download on our Gift Aid page.
