Here in Somerset we are surrounded by beautiful countryside; Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Mendip Hills are on our doorstep. Whilst this provides a haven for holidays and recreation, those who live and work in rural communities face unique issues and challenges. We place a high priority on supporting the many facets of country living through the work of the Flourishing Rural Church Group. Download the Flourishing Rural Church report below.
Our commitment to supporting rural churches helping their communities to flourish is expressed in various ways. We seek to offer support, advice and training for all who work and live in the countryside, but are particularly a resource for those involved in agriculture, as well as churches and their leaders.
Life for rural parishes and clergy is very different from their urban counterparts and in today’s financial and political climate, we understand how difficult it can be for those in agricultural employment which is why we offer a listening ear as well as practical advice. The Rural Life Adviser, Rob Walrond, is available for consultations and we have strong links with agencies such as the Farming Community Network, a Christian farming organisation that offers practical and emotional support.
