18 November 2024: In his regular Friday mailing to schools, Ed Gregory, Director of Education for the Diocese of Bath and Wells said, "I want to take this opportunity to assure you of our full and continued commitment to safeguarding both as a diocese and as an education department."
He also shared the links to find Bishop Michael’s response to both the Makin report and the Archbishop’s resignation, which can be found in the news section.
You can also download a statement on safeguarding from Nigel Genders, CEO of the National Society for Education (The Church of England’s national education team).
The Diocese of Bath and Wells Education Department supports 182 Church of England Schools. We provide professional advice and assistance to support schools in all aspects of their Christian Flourishing, through interpreting and sharing the Church of England’s Vision for Education and its 4 key pillars of wisdom, hope, community and dignity. We particularly support schools to develop their own unique vision in their own unique setting. We share all aspects of our offer through our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) brochure, with our schools through our regular headteacher and chair of governors’ briefings and via newsletters and regular communication.
