Contactless giving

Contactless giving is a convenient way for visitors to give to our local churches.  Find out how to introduce this quick and secure donation method in your church and the support available to ensure that this enhances your church's fundraising efforts.

6 steps

As we become and increasingly cashless society, many people find it more convenient to give by simply tapping their card.  It is also easy to implement contactless giving in your church, which allows people to give in person using their card or smart device at a donation unit.  Research in the wider charity sector suggests that people typically give three times more via contactless than they do via cash giving so it is a giving mechanism that is well worth the time invested.

  1. Establishing Connectivity: WiFi/Mobile - Signal Survey
  2. Choose Your Device: Select the appropriate contactless giving device, such as a card reader or mobile app, that best suits your church’s needs.
  3. Set Up Your Account: Register your church and configure the device with your bank account for seamless transactions – how to guide
  4. Promote Contactless Giving: Inform your congregation about the new giving method through various communication channels.
  5. Collect Donations: Encourage visitors to use the contactless device during services and events for easy and secure donations.
  6. Track and Report: Utilise the device’s reporting features to monitor and manage donations effectively.

Try before you buy

We know that some churches may be considering using a contactless device but are fearful of doing so without knowing that the initial investment in purchasing a device will be recovered. To help overcome this barrier, your church can borrow a device from the diocese for a period of 4-6 weeks and then review its impact before deciding whether to go ahead with a purchase.

If you are interested in trialling a device, please follow the 6 steps to contactless giving to identify a suitable device and create any digital giving accounts necessary.  Then contact the team to arrange your trial period.
