This week young people from Cotford St Luke enjoyed their very own festive treat at The Hub, which is part of St Luke’s Church Centre in the village. They were invited to a sit down three course Christmas meal, organised just for them by volunteers from the church and community.
Volunteer youth leader, Lloyd Notice said, “They loved the three course meal idea, a few are just used to meals on the sofa in front of the TV.”
He added, “There is a need in our community for young people to receive the love of God in a really practical way. The meal, ‘The Friday Night Experience’, proved a success as a lot of prayer went into it, plus we felt it should be a low-key event aided by church and non-church individuals.”
Afterwards Lloyd, Revd Clarissa Shaw Notice, Claire, David, and the team asked the young people for their ideas about the things they’d like to do in Cotford St Luke in the future. One of the popular suggestions, was to continue with The Friday Night Experience.
The team behind the first ‘experience’ is now hoping to host more of them in the new year. And with the success of this year’s festive feast, more meals will definitely be on the menu alongside other activities such as table tennis and pool, and an informal Youth Alpha course for those who are interested in exploring faith.
