An invitation to families to celebrate Easter

There were 'Brilliant Birds and Easter Eggs', Easter crafts, as well as a Buggy Service for families during Holy Week at St George’s Church near Taunton. The Families Team at the church invited people from their local community to join them for Easter week and many did just that. The team shared all the wonderful things that took place.

Easter was celebrated by the St Georges’s families in a variety of ways this year. We welcomed lots of 0-5’s and their grown-ups for our Buggy Service in the church. With simple Easter crafts, an egg hunt, sensory play, a story and some songs we learned how God made us, knows us and loves us through the Easter story. With plenty of yummy Easter treats and toys to play with in the church hall afterwards lots of fun was had by all.

Our Mossy Church team welcomed 70 adults and children from the church and wider community for a session exploring “Brilliant Birds and Easter Eggs” in our churchyard and church hall. This ministry is a gently Christian nature-based community outreach project. We explored, engaged and connected with the Creator through creation, by learning all about birds and how they demonstrate new life at Eastertime. The team created interactive tuff trays that let the children use magnifying glasses to investigate bird life; from teeny tiny eggs to a giant ostrich egg and beautiful feathery displays! With some added Easter baking, bird games like hook a duck, an egg hunt and building a giant bird’s nest for the children to play in. It was a jam-packed session.

On Easter Sunday some of the families joined us around a campfire in the churchyard for our Sunrise Service at 6.15am and later at our 11 service, we had an egg hunt and other Easter crafts. The children from our Sunday groups contributed to the church decorations as well.

Amongst all the busyness of the different events and services, it was our privilege to reach out to the community and seek to share the Good News this Easter time.
