For Easter, the Wellington team of churches have been working together to share hope and joy with the community through the angels of joy project. Their Christmas angels of hope have been replaced by colourful Easter angels of joy sharing the message of the resurrection of Jesus and the hope of new life and new beginnings as we come out of lockdown.
Local schools and local knitters have been making flowers and colourful angels to be part of the angel displays. Rev Richard Kelley and Rev Selina Garner said: “A massive thank you to you if you have been helping creatively by knitting flowers, praying, decorating churchyards, delivering or creating angels. We have been busy making over 500 angel of joy bags to share with some of our keyworkers and staff in local nursing homes and schools thanking them and praying for God’s protection over them.”
Some of the churches are planning Easter egg hunts in their churchyards for school children and local families. The Easter angel displays will be in St John’s churchyard and many of the village churchyards from Easter day until Pentecost.
Sharing below some photos of the angels of joy so that even though you may not be able to travel to see them in situ, you can enjoy them and share the good news that Jesus is risen.
