Today, we hold Archbishop Albert Chama, and the people of the Anglican Diocese of Lusaka, in our thoughts and prayers, as Archbishop Albert is enthroned as the new Bishop of Lusaka. His enthronement takes place at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Bishop Michael sent Archbishop Albert a message on behalf of the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
“Although we are separated by many thousands of miles we are together today in the gift of the Spirit and in the light of the Gospel. We celebrate your ministry and that of all God’s people in Lusaka Diocese, giving thanks for your witness, your service and your proclamation of the Good News that together we share in Jesus Christ.
The link between Zambia and the Diocese of Bath and Wells has existed for more than 40 years. It is something we treasure as we walk together, learn from each other, share our lives in common and give thanks for the opportunities we have to visit and to know each other better. As technology grows, enabling the miles to be overcome, we look forward to sharing with you in mission that responds to the needs of God’s world in our care of the environment, development of our communities and in many other ways.
Today is an occasion of great joy and celebration. We are praying for you and holding you in our hearts. We look forward to welcoming you to Wells when you come to us in September and to continuing the celebrations when you are with us in Somerset.
This comes with our love, our prayers and best wishes.”
Together we pray
Loving Jesus, as Archbishop Albert Chama is installed as Bishop of Lusaka, we pray for the parishes in his care. We ask for your blessing on Archbishop Albert, the people of Lusaka diocese and the link parishes in our diocese as we work together in your name. Amen.
The service will be a combined celebration of the Enthronement and the Diamond Jubilee of the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross. It will be available to watch on Facebook.
