Common Fund consultation continues

More than 250 people have now attended sessions for the Common Fund consultation which is currently underway.

The consultation process is being led by Adrian Youings, Archdeacon of Bath, who is also Chair of the Common Fund Committee (CFC). The CFC has been reviewing the way we apportion parish share for a number of years. Adrian has presented the proposal alongside Matthew Pinnock, the diocesan Head of Finance & Operations, and answered questions from attendees following discussions on the proposal.

Adrian says, “I have been heartened by the positive way that people have engaged with this opportunity to consider the proposal of how we calculate what parishes are requested to contribute into our Common Fund. We have had some very constructive discussions and feedback, all of which will be fed into the review process.”Over the next couple of weeks further discussions will be held before phase one of the consultation ends on 9 March 2024. Find details of the sessions and register to attend.

At the end of the first stage of the consultations, the feedback will be discussed, and a further period of consultation will begin on 30 April, before a decision on the final proposal is made by Diocesan Synod on 10 July 2024.
