Creative arts in ministry day

An arts in ministry day to encourage people to discover their creativity, challenge the views of what creativity is and where it comes from, has been organised by Gill Sakakini, Pioneer Minister for the arts, and co-author of the book and course ‘Imaging the Story’, together with Ruth Slade from the Go Team.

This one-day event is open to everyone especially those who are thinking about exploring fresh ways to tell God's story in their particular context. Anyone, whether they are very creative or are unsure about using creativity in their ministry, is invited to come along, Ruth says, “We'd love for people who aren't sure how to use creativity in ministry to come and explore why it's important to be creative in our faith exploration and help others to do the same.

“We will be hearing how God created us to create, and how we can use that in our everyday faith, as well as in our work with others. We will be doing some practical creative reflection on a Bible passage, and then spend the afternoon working on a Holy Week and Easter themed piece of collaborative art, which will give those attending something to take away and use creatively in their context.

There will be an opportunity to take part in making an innovative 3D exploration of scripture and to take part in a series of creative adaptable all-age resources for use from Palm Sunday, through Holy Week to Easter Sunday 2024.

Gill says, “It will be a day of active and reflective sessions which unpack ways our God-given creativity opens up fresh ways to tell God’s story in our time”.

The day takes place on 24 February 2024 at 9:30am - 3:30pm at Flourish House, Wells Register online to join the day.
