Almost two hundred people from across the diocese gathered online for the launch service which marked the start of this week’s Everyday Faith event - Everyone, Everywhere Growing in Faith. People joined on their own, and some came together in groups to take part in the online service.
This year we are exploring what growing in faith means and looks like, affirming and encouraging along the way. Throughout the week we are exploring six themes spelling out the word GROWTH: Growth, Rhythms, Others, Word, Together, Hope.
Bishop Michael and Bishop Ruth joined those gathered in worship. Bishop Michael said he was “so looking forward to travelling with you this next week of everyday faith.” And he posed the question of those attending, “Who have been the most important people on your faith journey, who have helped you follow Jesus Christ?” He went on to say “think about what they would say to you about this next week that we are going to spend together. My hope is that they would encourage you to step out in faith just like you did at the beginning. To think more about what following Jesus means to you in your everyday life and how we can keep on growing in our faith.”
In breakout rooms people reflected on the reading 1 Corinthians Chapter 3 verses 1-9, asking -What does it appear has been going on in the church in Corinth? What kind of growth is needed in Corinth? And where is the need for space and growth in your life?
