Harvest for the Climate: A Gift of Trees

In November global leaders come together in Glasgow at COP26 to discuss how they can tackle the effects of climate change together. The world will be waiting to hear what more can be done. Here in Bath and Wells we can start now.

Creationtide is dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life and we as Christians use this time to give thanks for God’s wonderful world. It is also the time of year when we celebrate Harvest with gratitude and thanksgiving.

Why not come together this Creation and Harvest time with farmers in your local area to plant trees?  Bath and Wells Rural Affairs Adviser, Rob Walrond is in already in talks with organisations who may supply the trees. Following Creationtide, we expect to widen the scheme to other landowners such as parish councils.

As a first step this Creationtide please consider inviting local farmers to a Creationtide or Harvest Service and ask if they are happy for church members to plant trees at a suitable place, or places on their land and identify a group of volunteers who can plant them.

Rob says, "It's a great way Christians can make a practical difference in their communities by bringing together stewards of the land, with those who are keen to plant trees. The fruits of these partnerships will benefit us all in the future".
