Many personal aspects of life can contribute further to feelings of desperation. Everybody’s response is individual and valid, and we need to be ready to not only listen to each other, but to really HEAR how others are feeling in their suffering. Our genuine attention to someone’s desperation could be the difference, not only of offering vital healing human contact, but also between life and death. Please remember to talk in your church about mental health and the reality of suicide. We do not want depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts to be a reality that nobody talks about! If we decrease the shame of suffering by breaking the silence we decrease risk.
Being observant saves lives. Talking saves lives.
