The Go Team are excited to launch their newest series of Bible Chat Mats. Series 3 has a different look and feel to previous Chat Mats. These are specifically designed with young people in mind. Recent research by organisations such as YouthScape, We Are Tearfund, and others conclude that young people want to talk about various issues affecting them, but that often the church doesn’t provide the opportunity to do so.
The Go Team have sought to produce a resource that opens up conversations around these issues, using affirming Bible stories and verses, open questions, and an opportunity to respond through prayer, reflection and action. They focus on 14 cultural issues that young people are facing in the 21st century, including peer pressure, the environment, uncertainty and navigating the online world.
Once again, Andy Gray, Faith Sharing Enabler and Illustrator was commissioned to draw the Bible Chat Mats, using a range of Celtic imagery and his usual creative ideas, with theological links on each design.
Go Team Adviser Cheryl Govier says, ‘We are really excited to launch these Bible Chat Mats. Andy Gray’s inspirational illustrating has brought the themes to life, with each of these chat mats having a unique look and idea contained within them. We pray that this series will help youth leaders open up conversations with their young people, allowing them to explore the Bible, talk openly and respond in prayer, reflection, and action’.
As with the previous series of Bible Chat Mats, we don’t anticipate the use of these being limited to young people, so why not think of other spaces to use them such as in your small group, café church or in worship?
The 14 Issues based Bible Chat Mats are now free to download and use.
