At the latest Synod, Caroline Mason was elected as the new Lay Chair of Diocesan Synod, replacing Mary Masters.
As Lay Chair, Caroline has a specific role to perform at Synod, but also has responsibilities with the diocese and the national church.
Caroline, a retired GP and Reader at Holy Trinity, Nailsea, says, “I am delighted to take up the position as Lay Chair and do what I can to further enhance the relationship between lay people involved in mission in different roles and contexts and the Diocese. I am particularly looking forward to working alongside our lay deans. I take on the role at a time when there are many challenges but also opportunities as the diocese seeks to develop a focal ministry model, and look forward to supporting this in any way I can.”
Caroline has represented Portishead Deanery on Diocesan Synod and has been a member of Bishop’s Council for three years.
