Church leaders from across our diocese joined the Go Team online to share ideas and resources for the coming Easter celebrations. The Easter Ideas Chat sessions held on Zoom over the last few years have become a firm fixture in the diary for some, with this year’s sessions focusing on the question “How are you sharing the amazing Easter story with your community?”
Wellington-based School Chaplain, Helena Power, shared how using the Experience Easter resources have enabled small teams of volunteers to bring the story to life for Primary School children, bringing church and school closer together. Curate, Rev Mark McKnight also shared how in Curry Rivel, the church are gearing up to run Experience Easter Outside, recognising the need to connect with local families outside of the school day and helping the whole family to explore the story. Both resources have been developed by the Diocese of Gloucester and can be found on the Jumping Fish Publications website.
Pip Lovell, Youth Worker in Keynsham Parish shared, “'The Ideas chats are always super helpful. Even better if you get other members of your team to join the Zoom as well. We leave inspired, it gets the cogs turning about what we can do.”
New for 2024 are the ALIVE resources which have been created in response to the headline statistic that 45% of people in the UK believe in the resurrection (Talking Jesus report 2022). The 5-part video series and accompanying small group resources explore the appearances of Jesus after his resurrection and will be part of a nationwide Easter campaign. Resources aimed at teens and young adults as well as children under 5 are all part of the suite of free resources available from the Hope Together website.
Other Easter resources shared included a Lego animation of the Easter Story by Go Chatter, the brand new Easter Matters resource pack from Scripture Union and a variety of ideas that families with younger children can use at home from God Venture - including an Easter garden that grows! The Go Team’s own 12 Ideas for Easter resource is also available from the Bath and Wells website.
