The Safeguarding Leadership training course, which has been redesigned and relaunched, is generating positive feedback from attendees.
The course is for all those in a leadership role in their parish, who have completed the Awareness and Foundation safeguarding courses. This includes all licenced clergy, Readers, PTO clergy, PTO Readers, Parish Safeguarding Officers, Pioneer Ministers and Chaplains. Those who are also in leadership positions with children and young people or with vulnerable adults, paid Youth Workers and Churchwardens in leadership roles are also encouraged to attend this course.
Ben Goodhind, Safeguarding Manager says, “People have told us not only how much they have valued the sessions, with one person saying they were the ‘best safeguarding sessions they have ever attended’ but also how much they ‘appreciated the relaxed and user-friendly session and overall environment.’ It is a testament to our fantastic new training team and we look forward to welcoming everyone to next year’s sessions as we seek to ensure churches in Bath and Wells are safe for all.”
The Safeguarding Leadership Training, delivered as two sessions undertaken one week apart, is supported by a workbook. A pre-course preparation task must be completed at least one week prior to attending the course and submitted to the Safeguarding Training team which helps the team to shape the training session, to focus discussions and minimise repetition of unnecessary content.
The course has been designed to be largely participant led in small groups, with the two trainers helping to draw out and develop the understanding of safeguarding so that good practice can be internalised and embedded as part of everyday ministry.
The course is now available both online via Zoom and in person at Flourish House. Select Safeguarding events on the diocesan website Events Calendar, find the course you wish to attend then follow the booking link to EventBrite.
