More than 40 adults and children gathered in Middlezoy for the Autumn Days – Close to God’s Creation event. They explored Nature Trails in a picturesque woodland, discussing faith amid the landscape, with falling leaves symbolising renewal.
Outside there were opportunities to talk about faith using the landscape all around. The falling autumn leaves helped to illustrate that a new cycle would begin again and come the spring there would be new growth on the trees. A reminder that we, ourselves, need to pause for a time of personal renewal and discovery.
Pauline Davies, along with others, organised craft activities focusing on leaves, a nature collection corner, and bulb planting. “Leaves were also at the centre of the craft activities and the nature collection corner, including insects, was one of learning and excitement. There was also bulb planting and each person had been given the responsibility to care for theirs at home.”
The event concluded with singing, dancing, Hungarian soup, and marshmallow toasting. Pauline expressed the joy of everyone who took part in the Autumn Days, "It was time in nature to say'Thanks be to God'."
Holy Cross Church Middlezoy is actively pursuing their Eco Church Silver Award with range of activities that everyone can join in with.
