The Coronation ceremony for His Majesty King Charles III will take place on 6 May at Westminster Abbey. Plans for a special weekend of events, celebrations and activities that will include shared community lunches and activities to help inspire community spirit have been announced. Here are some key dates:

  • Saturday 6th May: The Coronation service, Westminster Abbey. This will be broadcast live, and churches may want to invite people to come together to watch the broadcast in their buildings. No special licence is needed to do that, as long as you don't charge a fee.
  • Sunday 7th May: The Coronation Big Lunch. Churches, communities, and local organisations are encouraged to share food and celebrate this historic occasion together, and get to know each other better.
  • Monday 8th May (which is is a Bank Holiday): The Big Help Out. A day focused on volunteering to highlight the wonderful work that volunteers do and to encourage others to try volunteering in their local area.  It will be a great opportunity for your church to show the fantastic work that takes place within their community.

And don't forget to let us know your plans, so we can help to publicise them. Email the Communications Team.
