The Young Leaders Learning Hub, a supportive environment aimed at developing leadership skills for young adults aged 15-25, has made a great start since its launch earlier this year. With 10 young leaders participating, there are already discussions to expand the programme with a hub in the south of the diocese.
The Hub, in partnership with Movement, is designed to support young leaders by offering a collaborative space to learn. It also provides opportunities to work together to strengthen their skills as they serve in real-life contexts. So far, the young leaders have explored themes such as at the foundations of where our identity lies, the distinctiveness of Christian leadership, and the discerning of God’s calling in their lives. The next phase will focus on honing communication skills.
Elizabeth Alden, who has established the Learning Hub, expressed her enthusiasm for the program’s success, she said, “'It is a privilege to see these young people engaging together to discern what the Bible teaches and encouraging one another - often with laughter - to see how that applies to them, where God is enabling them to serve here and now.”
Elizabeth adds, with a smile: “The Young Leaders Learning Hub is a highlight of my month. “I am greatly encouraged to see these young people and young adults, from different localities and churches, getting to know one another, and learning in this dynamic community.” In the video below you can hear from some of the young leaders themselves.
Looking ahead, there are hopes to further expand the initiative across the southern part of the diocese, offering more young leaders the chance to develop their skills and grow in their faith.
