30th anniversary of the ordination of women priests

25 anniversary of women priestsAll are welcome to attend a Eucharist to celebrate 30 years of the ordination of women priests at Wells Cathedral at 17:15 on Tuesday, 14 May 2024.

The service is an opportunity to celebrate the gifts and richness brought to ordained ministry by all women priests who have served in Bath and Wells in the last 30 years.

After the service there will be an opportunity to gather and share stories and enjoy refreshments. In order to aid the planning of the celebration, those planning to attend are requested to register using the booking form.

For the Revd Jo Stobart, who was ordained as a priest seven years, ago, the moment she saw her name on the clergy board in her church, St Mary’s Ilminster, was a significant one. She has shared a picture taken when her name appeared on the board, the church’s first female priest.

Are you on the board? If you are, you can send us your picture and help us mark the anniversary. Anyone who has any stories or pictures to share about the ministry of women priests can share them ahead of the day (email: comms@bathwells.anglican.org). Alternatively, they can be shared on the day when they will be collated and used to mark this anniversary year in Bath and Wells.

Register to attend the service of celebration.
