Following her farewell service at Wells Cathedral on 15 April and subsequent welcome service at Liverpool Cathedral on 8 May, Bishop Ruth has today (12 May 2025) sent the following message:
Dear sisters and brothers
A belated but very heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for the lovely ‘farewell’ you gave me at the Chrism service. And for the generous gift and personal cards and good wishes. I have loved the time spent with you in Bath and Wells and have many happy memories to take with me as I now continue my ministry with Liverpool diocese. It has been a busy but exciting few weeks culminating in a special welcome service in Liverpool Cathedral last Saturday led by Archbishop Stephen.
I will be holding you in my prayers in the coming months and ask that you do the same for me. It’s possible that you may catch sight of me in the next few weeks as I am having some surgery back in Somerset today and will have a few weeks of recovery. Howard and I will then move fully during the summer.
Never forget that you are ‘God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved’ and keep on living and telling the story of Jesus!
With much love and gratitude for you all
+Ruth
