Are you called to be with older people and to offer spiritual care?

Young and old hands together

Are you called to be with older people and to offer spiritual care?  If so, then you might be interested in Anna Chaplaincy. The Diocese of Bath and Wells has just signed a licence with Anna Chaplaincy, which makes it even easier for individuals and churches to connect with Anna Chaplaincy. It might be about starting something new, it might be about recognising what you are already doing so wonderfully, and finding fellowship and brilliant resources in a wider network.

Anna Chaplaincy is named after Anna, who because of her age, faith and prayers, was blessed to one of the first to recognise Jesus as the Messiah [Luke 2.36-38].  Anna Chaplaincy is a rapidly growing network, enabling and inspiring ministry with older people, within and beyond the churches.  Anna Chaplains still see God in unexpected places… You can discover more here Anna Chaplaincy | Offering spiritual care in later life.

Hazel, one of our first Anna Chaplains in Bath and Wells wrote at the end of a long covid lockdown:

An unexpected ray of hope touched me when we returned to our local Care Home on June 10th 2021 to recommence visits and Communion Services.  After donning the scary disguise of full PPE and taking the mandatory Covid Tests, we were bowled over by the instant recognition and warmth of welcome from the residents and staff. They had kept the faith, clung to hope and prayed for us. Fears that we might be barely remembered and concerns of the long-term impacts of lockdown soon dissipated. Our congregation had survived Covid, even the 105 year old! As we chatted over coffee, I was humbled and inspired by their quiet courage, patience and wisdom.  We shared joy and gratitude.
