Appointed as the new Speaker's Chaplain

Andrew Hillier, Lead Chaplain of the multi-faith chaplaincy team at Hinkley Point C has been appointed as Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons. Whilst Andrew has only been at Hinkley for a short time this opportunity came out of the blue and Andrew felt a deep sense of calling to take on the role.

Andrew said, “This has been a very hard decision, not least because of the wonderful chaplaincy team that I have been working with at Hinkley. I have felt privileged to work with such a committed and dedicated team and am truly grateful for the welcome and support I have received.

I would like to thank everyone for their understanding throughout this process. I leave behind a fantastic team who continue to undertake the important work they do on site. I hope my new role will help me to advocate and develop the profile of chaplaincy at a national level.”

Richard Kelley Chaplaincy Adviser for the Diocese of Bath and Wells said, “We are sad to see Andrew go, but understand the opportunity he has been offered and are absolutely thrilled for him as he takes up this role. We are grateful for the contribution Andrew has made in the short time he has been with us.

“We would like to thank Ewen Huffman for stepping back in to lead the team in the short term as we work with Hinkley to find a replacement for Andrew.”

The process of appointing a new lead for the EDF funded chaplaincy team at Hinkley has now begun. Details of the position can be found on the vacancies section of the Bath and Wells website.
