Bishop Michael has shared the following message following this morning's (2 October 2025) terrorist incident in Manchester.
He says, "Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community of Manchester, and throughout the country. The attack on the synagogue on this holiest of days for the Jewish people is both horrifying and an assault upon us all. We stand with our brothers and sisters in their loss and distress, and are with them in prayer and solidarity at this terrible time."
The Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, says, "Archbishop Stephen has posted on X: "I was very shocked to hear about the attack on Heaton Park Synagogue. To the Jewish community in Manchester and to all affected I send my deepest sympathy. On this most holy day for the Jewish people, Yom Kippur, we pray all may live alongside each other in harmony and respect."
The Church of England has shared the following prayer.
