It is 100 days to go until Somerset Day on 11 May 2021. A day when everyone who lives, works in or just loves Somerset is encouraged to celebrate all that’s wonderful about the county. That’s our schools, our churches, our town, cities and villages. The produce grown and created here, and the people who make it, as well as the goods and services that come from Somerset. Bishop Ruth is Patron of Somerset Day, alongside His Grace the Duke of Somerset and Michael Eavis CBE.
“On Somerset Day I share with others in giving thanks for all the amazing people whether neighbours or strangers who share such smiles and warmth and care for each other every day in Somerset – thank you Somerset.”
This year, like many things, Somerset Day will be a little different so to get things off to a joyful and early start, Somerset Day organisers are launching #flytheflagforsomerset and they’d like everyone to get involved, whether that’s by flying the distinctive Somerset flag with its bright red dragon waving from a flagpole, or painting a picture to display in your front window. The aim is that this year the whole county will be turned into a sea of Somerset flags in celebration of Somerset Day.
