Hinkley Point C Lead Chaplain, Ewen Huffman is walking The Camino de Satiago in Northern Spain and as part of his pilgrimage he hopes to raise money for mental health charity, The Lighthouse Club. Ewen, will set off from France on 23 March, climbing up through the foothills of the Pyrenees and into Spain before arriving in Santiago de Compostela on 28 April.
Ewen says the pilgrimage will be both a mental and spiritual challenge for him. “The walks are handleable it's the repetitive nature of it that is the difficult. You do it all again the next day and the next day and the next day. So, I think that kind of accentuates the experience and Christians often speak of God being found in extremis, that when we get to the end of ourselves, that's the beginning of finding God. And I think there's something true in that.”
Each day Ewen will share reflections each day throughout his journey. You can catch up with him on Facebook or Youtube.
He is also hoping to raise £50k for the mental health charity The Lighthouse Club. “I am primarily doing this to keep my soul and head in the right place, to enable me to continue caring for the workforce at Hinkley. But as a spin-off I’m trying to raise £50k. I have no idea whether I’ll achieve it or not!”
