Mark Lidster will be joining us as Church Buildings Adviser on Monday, 5 August 2024, replacing Emma Brown who left earlier this year.
A former Conservation and Regeneration Officer for Somerset County Council, Mark has experience of working with the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) and comes with a wealth of experience.
Julia Hill, Acting Head of Mission Support and Ministry Development says, ‘We are delighted to have been able to appoint someone with such excellent experience and skills to this vital post. He is well placed to support churches as they care for their buildings, from the questions about best maintenance to full scale re-ordering projects. Mark’s understanding of, and love for, buildings and people is clear and we are excited to welcome him to our diocesan-wide team.”
Mark says, “A large proportion of the parishes will already know me through my historic work as a conservator and church buildings contractor...having repaired, specified or delivered a number of successful contracts throughout the south west. In my work with the Council I have always sought to be the human face to the sometimes stressful task of managing or changing buildings and I hope I can bring that approach into this new role and help parishes and the DAC work well together so we can cherish these wonderful buildings together.”
