The Revd Matthew Frankum will be taking on the role of Vocations Team Leader when the Revd Sue Rose retires from the post at the end of June 2023. Matthew is currently the vicar at St Luke’s, Bath and has also been an Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands for Bath and Wells for three years.
Commenting on the appointment Bishop Michael says, “I am delighted that Matthew has been appointed as our Vocations Team Leader, building on the excellent work done by Sue Rose. All Christians are called to follow and serve God through our baptisms. Across Somerset, Matthew is going to play a central role in helping us think together about how we live our callings out – for all of us in the places where God has set us in the world and for some as we join in the particular ministries of our churches, schools and chaplaincies.”
The Vocations Team Leader encourages and promotes vocations to lay and ordained ministry across the diocese and leads the discernment process for ordained and Reader ministry. They also support ordinands and Readers as they train for their ministry.
Commenting on his appointment, Matthew says, “I’m delighted to take up this new role of Vocations Team Leader, as we seek to promote lay and ordained vocations across the diocese. I have a passion to see all people grow into their God-given vocations, using their unique gifts and skills. Having been in parish ministry in Bath & Wells for the past 24 years, including 15 years at St. Luke’s, Bath it will certainly be a change. Please do pray for me and this next chapter of how we can live out our callings in our communities”.
