Many people have signed an online book of condolence following the death of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. The Government advised that in order to observe current Covid-19 precautions, physical condolence books should not be offered. Messages can be submitted to the online book of condolence for Prince Philip on the Church of England website.
Prayers and liturgy for services and collective worship can also be found on the Church of England website, as can resources for parish churches organising local acts of commemoration. Please ensure that the Advice for Worship and Prayer guidance is read ahead of using any of the official resources and be aware that Coronavirus restrictions remain in place.
On Friday 16th April at 5.15pm there will be a special service of Choral Evensong from Wells Cathedral to give thanks for the life of the Duke of Edinburgh. For those unable to visit the Cathedral, an online service will be made available at the same time.
Following news of HRH Prince Philip's death Bishop Peter and Bishop Ruth both expressed their sorrow and gave thanks for his life and service to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Funeral will take place on Saturday 17 April 2021 at 3pm in St George’s Chapel, Windsor. The Funeral Service will begin with a National Minute’s Silence. The service will be preceded by a ceremonial procession inside the grounds of Windsor Castle.
