We are delighted to welcome Annabel Capel who joins Bath and Wells as the part-time Zambia Link Coordinator.
Annabel, who is a senior school Art teacher, was born in Zambia. In 2002, driven by a desire to reconnect with her roots, she returned to live and work there. During the three years, she spent in Zambia, Annabel wore various hats, from teaching to project management, she even spent time serving as Bishop William Mchombo's PA and accountant in Chipata.
Annabel says she is delighted to have been appointed as the Zambia Link Coordinator, and is keen to help develop and extend the strong ties between churches and schools in Bath and Wells and Zambia through the link. With her teaching background and firsthand knowledge of Zambia, she is keen to encourage partnerships that connect our different cultures and generations.
She said, “I am thrilled to once again be working with the Anglican church in Zambia and with churches and schools across Somerset as the Bath and Wells Zambia Link Coordinator. Zambia holds a special place in my heart; the people, the country, the sights, sounds, and scents of burning fires.
“I look forward to working with churches and school and developing links. It will also be good to return to Zambia and there and in Bath and Wells, to meet more people through my new role.”
