Diocesan Chrism Eucharist
Clergy and churchwardens have been invted to attend this year's diocesan Chrism Eucharist, which takes place at Wells Cathedral on Tuesday, 4 April at 10am.
It will be the first Chrism service presided over by Bishop Michael. He says, "As your bishops, +Ruth and I want to thank you and those in your communities for all that you are, and all that you do, in God’s service. It is therefore our pleasure to invite you to join with people from across the diocese to take part in the Holy Week service with the Blessing of Oils, the Renewal of Ordination Vows, and the Commitment to Ministry. Last year’s Chrism Eucharist provided a wonderful opportunity to meet again after the pandemic and to celebrate and recommit ourselves to the ministry which we all, laity and ordained, share."
"It will be good to come together as Easter people to the new form of reality in which we find ourselves, acknowledging the challenges that face us; to engage afresh with the message of Good News and hope that lies at the heart of our faith, and to pledge ourselves to our shared task of mission and evangelism. We hope to see as many of you as possible at this important occasion in our life together."
"Others from your context to come to this service, so that together as God’s people, we can recommit ourselves to the ministry we share, in its wonderful variety. There will be an opportunity to be anointed for your continuing ministry as part of the service if you so wish."
Bishop Ruth will be presiding and Bishop Michael will be preaching at the service. There will be an opportunity to enjoy a tea, coffee and a hot cross bun after the service
