New Housing areas present a pressing need for many parishes as in some cases 100s or 1000s of new people will soon be arriving and some are already new residents.
The New Housing Hub acts as a gathering space for people across the diocese and the south west to consider how we can to respond to the challenge of all the new housing being built under government initiatives across the area. We ask questions such as:
-
How can we demonstrate the love of God to people at this exciting but challenging time in their lives?
-
What is God up to in this space? Is it different from what we might expect? And how do we join in?
-
What would a church presence look like in this area?
-
Can we engage with the local authority, the developers and the community so that the new build areas become a place of human flourishing?
In March 2023 we are arranging a Day Conference at Flourish House in Wells, to hear from a variety of people with experience of both frontline ministry in these areas and strategic work at deanery and diocesan levels.
The Diocesan New Housing Hub is linked with the national network. Visit the New Housing Hub website or Facebook page for more information.
