Church clock restoration uncovers its historic significance
20th March 2025The community of St Catherine’s Church, Montacute, has been told by experts that it may be home to one of the oldest working timepieces in the country, follow a recent assessment that dates its clock back to the 1400s. Originally believed to have been made in the 1600s, around the time of the Reformation, the clock’s historical significance was uncovered during a restoration assessment in 2024.
Bishop Ruth's farewell service
13th March 2025Bishop Michael has sent a message to the diocese with the details of Bishop Ruth’s farewell service. Bishop Ruth’s last service in Bath and Wells will be the Chrism Eucharist on the Tuesday of Holy Week, at which she will preach.
Bishop Ruth to become interim Bishop of Liverpool
28th February 2025Downing Street has announced today that Bishop Ruth is to become the new suffragan Bishop of Wigan in the Diocese of Liverpool and to serve as the Interim Bishop of Liverpool.

300 join Singing in the Ring at a livestock market on Exmoor
20th December 2024Around 300 people enjoyed the Christmas Carol Service in Wheddon Cross, which brought members of the farming community, the local churches and many more together to celebrate Christmas.
Bringing the Christmas story to life on the farm
17th December 2024Four farms around the diocese hosted 'Journey to Bethlehem', an interactive retelling of the Christmas story for younger children. In each location churches worked with farmers to welcome school groups onto the farm, to bring the story of Jesus’ birth to life.
Taunton Minster hosts a special Together at Christmas service
13th December 2024The Minster was one of just 15 places chosen to be part of the Together at Christmas services which reflected the carol service hosted by The Princess of Wales in Westminster Abbey.
