How can we be with God in the outdoors? How can we engage with spiritual seekers and Christian believers who don’t do church as it is? Can we find a way of being together with God and one another in the natural world?
All these questions – and lots of others – lie behind the Outdoor Church Hub. Hubs are annual or twice yearly events where people who are having a go at ‘doing church’ outdoors come together to talk about what they’ve been discovering. Usually the host church will have their own story tell of what God is up to in their locality, and there’s usually some input on a particular theme associated with Outdoor Church. But the shape of the event is in the hands of the people who come – your questions and your experiences and your ideas make up the fabric of our time together.
Tina Hodgett, Evangelism and Pioneer Team Leader, is often present with other members of the diocesan support services team and we will help signpost you to other resources or people doing similar things to you.
Our first Outdoor Church Hub was in April 2019 when Sally Welch came to talk about the Pilgrim Paths network in Chipping Norton Deanery in Oxfordshire. We are now setting up Pilgrim Paths in parts of the Diocese along the same lines.
