Bishop Michael has shared his first Christmas message as Bishop of Bath and Wells. In it he reflects on St Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus and the message shared with the shepherds, who were out in the fields tending their sheep when they heard the voices of the angels telling them about the birth of Jesus. He thinks about why it was the shepherds who heard the angels, and asks us, what will we hear this Christmas, “The raised voices around us? Or the song of the angels with their message of peace?”

The Christmas message was filmed with the help of a modern-day shepherd who kindly offered to let Bishop Michael film the Christmas message on his sheep farm. Andy Wear who recently won Sheep Farmer of the Year, runs Fern Hill Farm on the Mendip Hills.
