Each local authority has a statutory responsibility to offer a syllabus for Religious Education for use in all community and Voluntary Controlled church schools. Voluntary Aided church schools and church schools converting to academy status may choose to use these syllabi and should consult with the diocese when planning their RE curriculum.
Locally agreed syllabi offer planned units of work, guidance and assessment advice.
Schools can access the materials for their area by selecting one of the following two links:

Understanding Christianity is the exciting major resource from the Church of England to support the teaching of Christianity in religious education. The diocese offers training to support the use of this resource in all schools.
Learn, Teach, Lead RE hubs are up and running, offering school-to-school support in local areas around the diocese.
Each term, we offer a day’s course on an aspect of RE and training to support RE coordinators. See our CPD programme for continuing professional development opportunities.
