If you visit St James Church in Taunton, you will be fortunate to see the first in a series of banners created by a group of church members.
Today a special service will mark the date that Bishop Sarah Mullally DBE legally becomes the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury.
The sound of church bells ringing is something we all love to hear, but anyone who has ever tried it will know that it takes a lot of skill, plenty of practice and also gives you a good workout! In Taunton, three members of the same family, Angela Henderson, Jackie Henderson and Harry Thorne-Henderson have just achieved something very impressive – they’ve all been awarded the Association of Ringing Teachers’ (ART) highest level of achievement for students.
On Sunday 25 January, Bishop Michael joined a packed congregation at St Michael and All Angels church in Flax Bourton, to celebrate their fantastic achievement in being the first church in our diocese to be awarded the A Rocha Gold Eco Church Award.

For the first time in Somerset, more than 6,000 pupils and staff from schools across the region came together as one big family for a time of shared reflection and celebration.
