Celebrating our link with Zambia

“The most important thing about the link is that we are learning from one another. People from different people in different cultures, but whose thoughts and actions are centred on the Gospel as expounded in the scriptures. That gaining of learning from one another has enabled us to understand how the Gospel is understood in your context and how it is understood in ours.

“It has allowed us to say, this is how we live our lives in these different cultures, but but we have a common centre and this is the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Archbishop Albert Chama has been speaking with Bishop Michael ahead of Zambia – Bath and Wells Sunday when we celebrate the link we have with Zambia. A link which was established in 1978, more than 40 years ago. Zambia – Bath and Wells Sunday is an opportunity for every parish across our six partner dioceses to pray and learn more about each other, and to consider our place as part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Archbishop Albert asked that on that day we pray for our national churches and for the leaders of the Church. Those who lead now and those who will lead us in the future. He asked that we also pray for the different groupings within the church and especially our young people.

You can watch Bishop Michael’s full conversation with Archbishop Albert in the video below. There are prayers and resources available for use on Zambia – Bath and Wells Sunday.
