Discussing racial justice

Racial Justice Sunday is on 22 April this year and to mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Stephen Lawrence, Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI) and Christian Aid brought together several leading thinkers from various churches in Britain and Ireland to discuss the legacy of Stephen’s racist killing, and the current state of race relations in Church and society in Britain and Ireland.

A selection of videos of the discussions, which are part of the Stephen Lawrence Legacy Conversations, are now freely available April on the CTBI website and more will be released in coming days.

Sally Beazley, Inclusion and Diversity Adviser for the diocese says, “There are videos covering topics from the Bible and racial justice, reparations and the culture wars among other current concerns – all freely available. They are excellent resources that can support churches as they seek to think about racial justice, reparations and conflict between groups of people with different cultural ideas and beliefs, whether that be within homegroups, PCCs…as well as providing inspiration for a sermon/talk on Racial Justice Sunday itself.”

If you want more advice on how your church can become more inclusive and diverse email Sally.
