Join our General Synod nominees at our virtual hustings

16th September 2021

Nominations are now in for the Diocese of Bath and Wells General Synod and they will be available to be questioned at Hustings over Zoom on either Saturday, 18 September at 9.00am (for clergy representatives), or Wednesday, 22 September at 7.00pm(for lay candidates).

A list of nominees for election to General Synod, along with their election addresses, on the General Synod page on the diocesan website.

Assistant Diocesan Secretary, Peter Evans, who is Presiding Officer for elections says, “The Hustings will see candidates make a brief statement about their nomination and there will then be an opportunity for electors to ask questions. I would urge anyone eligible to vote to make the most of this opportunity.”

Electors can also contact candidates at any time via the contact details included in their election addresses. In General Synod elections, clergy representatives are voted for by licensed clergy, while lay representatives are voted for by lay members of deanery synods.

Invitations to vote will be issued to those eligible to do so by Civica on Friday, 17 September. The invitation to vote will be issued by email, except where a paper copy has been requested. Voting closes on Friday 8th October.

If you have any questions about the election process, please email presiding.officer@bathwells.anglican.org
