Ted Allen, the independent Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel has officially stepped down, chairing his last meeting of the diocesan Safeguarding Panel after seven years in the role.
All Church of England clergy in the Diocese of Bath and Wells have been asked to check their records to ensure that all safeguarding concerns have been reported to appropriate authorities.
The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse released its final report in the Church of England yesterday.
The Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Rt Revd Peter Hancock, commissioned a Lessons Learnt Review in May 2019, with the objective of ascertaining the key actions and decisions of the diocese; whether these were in line with national policy and what lessons can be learned for the future.
Nearly all of our parishes have responded to Bishop Peter's request last March to confirm that any safeguarding issues they were aware of had been reported to the safeguarding team.
